Half a hologram - all the information

Continent or ocean
Country

Is there really all the information of a recorded motif in every fragment of a hologram? In this example, a broken photo plate is supposed to show us whether we can reconstruct the white-light hologram of a helicopter recorded in it. The photo plate was rotated again in 1-degree steps to the reference wave (focused beam of a light-emitting diode flashlight) for each individual photo, so that several views of the three-dimensional object can be observed from the recorded wave field (light amplitude and phase) of the laser.

The hologram was created in 1978 at the Chair for Theoretical E. Technology at the Ruhr University Bochum.
