If you sit down on one of the many benches on the opposite bank of the Rhône in Avignon in time for sunset and the weather cooperates, you will see the wonderful reflections of the city with the former palace of the Popes in the Rhône towering above it. Of course, from there you can also see the illuminated Pont Saint-Bénézet bridge from the 15th century folk song "Sur le pont d'Avignon". But there is even more to see at blue hour, because with suitable camera settings you can, for example, make the halos of the lanterns on the bridges and on the streets appear and the car bridge even appears as a frame for the ships on the other bank of the Rhône.

A visit to the former palace of the popes is one of the most important activities in the city. The Papal Palace in Avignon was the residence of various popes and antipopes between 1335 and 1430. The palace, along with the old town of Avignon, is a world heritage site. It is one of the largest and most important medieval Gothic buildings in Europe. To visit, you should be able to walk easily - it takes around two hours up and down the stairs and since you don't want to miss anything, you finally get to the roof of the magnificent building, from which you have wonderful views.

In the palace itself you can experience a journey through time through the 13th and 14th centuries AD. The mighty halls give an idea of the magnificent festivals and honors that were held here, but also the little things like the gargoyles or the unusual tiles invite you to pause.
