Moeraki Boulders are a large number of spherical rocks on Koekohe Beach on the South Island of New Zealand near Moeraki. The unusually symmetrical shapes have led to legends. Maoris suspect that the balls are eel baskets, bottle gourds and sweet potatoes from the wreck of the legendary canoe Arai-te-uru.

We were able to photograph the impressive balls in the best weather.
