Alternative trail run in the Hanfbach valley
Who does not like to remember the excellent novel "Love in the Age of Cholera" by Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez, a title that goes well with this article, but describes a far more terrible situation than the one we were told because of the corona virus. Today, insight and a sense of responsibility towards the weaker and older are required, and everyone can make a significant contribution through their own behavior, which naturally includes avoiding crowds. Unfortunately, this also includes the running competitions this spring, for which we have been preparing for a long time.
For me it is e.g. the Königsforst marathon in March and probably the Transvulcania on La Palma in early May. And alternatively romping through the forest with many runners is likely to fall flat for some time.
But how about as an incentive to the topic: "The lonely runner in times of the Corona" individual and selected trail routes that can be completed alone and against the clock? Then the condition won remains stable until autumn :-)
For the trail runners, I therefore offer my home training route along the ridges to the right and left of the beautiful Hanfbach valley. The 3-hour route has around 24 km with +/- 600 vertical meters and offers a lot of variety. In addition to trails, there are long and moderate climbs (Rosental), short and crisp climbs, trails, valleys, streams etc. The inevitable asphalt passages occasionally allow higher speeds. You can get through the following 16 of Hennef's 100 villages:
- Parking: N50° 44.190' E7° 18.990' an der K36, von hier aus etwa 100 m zum Start/Ziel Ortseingangsschild von Röttgen
- Start Röttgen
- Kuchenbach
- Lanzenbach
- Söven
- Hofen
- Westerhausen
- Kurscheid
- Dahlhausen
- Büllesfeld
- Büllesbach
- Depensiefen
- Hüchel
- Derenbach
- Hermesmühle
- Wiederschall
- Doppelsgarten
- Aim Röttgen
Anyone who can tackle this route alone or with their life partner can download and complete the certificate. If you send me your times as a comment on this post, then I would also like to keep a ranking in this post. Today I ran this route at a moderate pace in 3 hours to give you an indication of the duration to be planned.
I hope you like the idea and distracts something from the grief about the unusual competitions.
